Dr Root earned his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in Chemistry from Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah, where he built a strong foundation in the basic sciences and developed an early interest in patient care. Dr Root then went on to complete his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree at Rocky Vista University – Utah Campus, graduating in May 2023. Following medical school, I pursued a Family Medicine residency at Southern Hills Hospital. Dr Roots residency training has provided him with a comprehensive and well-rounded clinical foundation, including chronic disease management, preventive care, and a variety of in-office procedures. Dr Root has gained valuable experience managing patients with complex medical conditions, which has strengthened his clinical decision-making, attention to detail, and ability to provide coordinated, patient-centered care. His training has prepared him well for a transition into wound care, where a thorough, multidisciplinary approach is essential for successful healing and long-term patient outcomes.
Dr Root is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and making a meaningful difference in his patients’ daily lives. Dr Root is particularly drawn to wound care because it combines hands-on procedural work with longitudinal patient management and visible outcomes. Dr Root enjoys the challenge of treating complex wounds and addressing the underlying factors that impact healing, such as diabetes, vascular disease, and mobility limitations. Dr Root values building strong relationships with patients and takes pride in educating them and involving them in their care plans. Additionally, Dr Root is committed to continuous learning and staying current with best practices and advancements in wound care to provide the most effective and evidence-based treatments.
Outside of work, Dr Root prioritizes spending quality time with his family and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Dr Root enjoys off-roading and camping, which allow him to disconnect, recharge, and appreciate the outdoors. Dr Root also enjoys watching movies and playing video games to relax and unwind. Staying active is important to him, so he works out regularly to support both his physical and mental well-being. Overall, Dr Root values activities that helps him stay balanced, focused, and energized so he can bring his best self to both his personal life and his career.
